Inspiration 12: Vastness of Mercy
"Allah, the Most Exalted, is far too Merciful to punish any of His creation, for we know that His Mercy encompasses all things, that it overtakes His wrath, and that He has obliged Himself with kindness, for the kind one is quick to pardon after his warning. Indeed, Allah has decreed Mercy upon Himself, “Your Lord has decreed Mercy upon Himself.” [1] We also have his statement concerning Adam, peace be upon him, “Then His Lord chose him, accepted his repentance, and guided him.” [2] It should be noted that this selection, forgiveness, and guidance is carried forward to all his decendents since they were all still within his loins at that very moment, and Allah chose to fully forgive him while his descendants were still within him.
And all of the creation will fall under the banner of the Messenger of Allah, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, on the Day of Judgement, Adam and all the rest.
And can any evil reach the one who is under his banner, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him?
And indeed his intercession, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, shall reach everyone, the red, the black, believer, disbeliever, human or jinn. "
Furthermore, there are the three divine handfuls, that Allah Glorified and Majestic is He, will admit into the Paradise, and if He wills He can cause the whole creation to enter through only one such handful.
And recall, that He will add His ninty-nine Mercies to the one Mercy that He has already bestowed upon His servants in this worldly life, such that the entire creation will be granted a hundred Mercies.
Recall, He also said to His Messenger, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon Him, “And We have not sent you except as a Mercy to the worlds.” [3]
Thus, he will not remain content as long as a single soul under his banner remains in the Hellfire. "And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied." [4]
And when he shall prostrate before the Throne, it will be said to him, “Intercede, and it shall be granted to you,” and he will say, “The progeny of Adam will not be burned in the Hellfire today,” upon which the Kind (Al-Karīm) will place His foot over the Hellfire to symbolize its extinguishment in honor of the Messenger of Allah’s intercession, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
In fact, we know that the light of the believer is able to extinguish the flames of the Hellfire, so what are we then to make of the light of the Messenger of Allah himself, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him?
As for His statement, “And He will punish the hypocrites if He so wills, or accept their repentance; indeed Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.”[5]. It should be noted that the conjunction “or” (aw) is taken to mean the fulfillment of forgiveness and mercy, and for this reason such verses end with “Indeed Allah is Forgiving and Merciful” as an emphatic confirmation.
Furthermore we have his ḥadtīth, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, “By the One in whose hand my soul is, Allah will grant a sweeping forgiveness on the Day of Judgement, such that even Satan will extend himself hoping perchance it may reach him.” Indeed, it will reach him since Allah is with His slave’s opinion of Him.
Similarly, in the statement of the Most Exalted, “As He initially created, so you shall return,” [6] we know that He began our creation in Paradise. “And to your Lord is the final destiny.” [7] Thus, we shall all return to Allah, the Most Exalted, and He, the Most Exalted, is more Merciful than our conception of His Mercy, more Gentle than our conception of His Gentleness, and more Beautiful than our conception of His Beauty, so think well of Allah O servants of Allah, for indeed Allah is with His servant’s opinion of Him.
